As always, our thoughts are with you. The Star Ledger article was beautifully written and did a wonderful job of warning parents about choking dangers.

So sorry to learn about Eric's death. It made me think of when my oldest child chocked on a large candy ball. He couldn't make a sound - no child or adult ever could. But I was so very fortunate just to simply be in the same room. I saw his struggle, and used the Heimlich Maneuver which I knew. It worked and a terrible tragedy was averted simply by luck and some basic knowledge.

I urge all parents to learn this method, and to help teach it to their older children. Note how it is different for infants. One can also teach all children how they can signal to others that they are chocking. Learn the method at:

It is so very sad that Eric died. But through his mother's efforts and her story in today's paper, additional families will be spared from having to experience such a devestating tragedy as she and her family did.

I just read your story in the Star Ledger. I am so sorry fo our loss. Iagree that there should be a warning on crtain foods. More than that it should say that the item should be cut into small pieces. What harm is there in the company voluntarily writing that on the label? here should be posters hanging in all pediatricians ofices listing the most common foods that children choke on. Most people don't realiz how dangerous grapes, popcorn, lolipop, etc.

God bless you and your family.
